Scott Miller, Owner, Gazebo Gardens
I had the pleasure of welcoming senate candidate Carly Fiorina and representatives from the U.S., California and local Fresno Chambers of Commerce, to my nursery today. Gazebo Gardens has been in business for nearly 90 years, and I believe that there has never before been an election more important than this one for California’s small businesses.
There have been so many recent closures in the nursery industry that it sometimes feels like the mom and pop corner nursery has become a thing of the past. But it’s not just the nursery industry—businesses of all kinds are struggling to survive in this tough economy. That is why now, more than ever, it is crucial that we elect leaders who understand that by raising taxes and increasing regulations we are killing small businesses and making it even harder to put people back to work.
Carly understands that, in order to grow our economy, we have to cut taxes, reduce regulations and reward businesses for hiring more people and being successful—not punish them. Carly knows what it takes to create a job and has the real world business experience necessary to get our economy going again. Barbara Boxer, on the other hand, has had 28 years in Washington but only a record of higher spending, more burdensome regulation and a lot of empty talk to show for it.
Defeating Barbara Boxer in November is a matter of great importance for many small business owners up and down the state. I know that, with the help of support of California’s small businesses, we can come together and elect Carly as our next United States Senator.
