Carly Fiorina Earns Endorsement of Former SBA Administrator Hector Barreto

Hosts Town Hall With San Diego-Area Small-Business Owners

SAN DIEGO, CA - During a campaign swing through San Diego, U.S. Senate candidate Carly Fiorina today earned the endorsement of former administrator of the Small Business Administration (SBA) Hector Barreto; together, they co-hosted a town hall for area small-business owners at E&E Industries.

“Our nation’s small businesses are the primary engines of job creation in our economy, and Carly has a keen understanding of the struggles small-business owners around the state are facing right now,” said Barreto. “As a U.S. senator, Carly will fight for policies that support our nation’s small businesses, family-owned businesses and entrepreneurs so that they can grow, succeed and employ our fellow Americans. That’s why I am pleased to give her my strongest support.”

Barreto served as SBA Administrator from 2001 to 2006. The son of Mexican immigrants, Barreto began his career helping his parents by working in, and later co-managing, a family restaurant, an export/import business and a construction company. He has also served as Chairman of the Board for the Latin Business Association in Los Angeles and as Vice President of the U.S Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

“Hector and I share a common belief that, in order to stimulate true economic growth, we must begin by unleashing the talents and energies of California’s workers, small-business owners, innovators and entrepreneurs – not by growing government,” Fiorina said. “Barbara Boxer clearly has no intention of pursuing policies that support the small- and family-owned businesses that will lead our nation to recovery, and that’s why I am running to replace her this year. I am honored to have Hector’s support behind my campaign, and I look forward to working with him in the months ahead.”

Since announcing her candidacy for U.S. Senate, Fiorina has consistently emphasized the importance of economic growth and job creation. Her economic growth plan, which she unveiled in April, is based on the principle that lower taxes, fewer burdensome regulations and more innovation will drive our nation’s recovery and growth.
