Business Leaders Tout Carly Fiorina’s Record of Success

Launch Business Coalition 100 Web Site Supporting Fiorina’s Candidacy for U.S. Senate

SACRAMENTO, CA – Growing out of a grassroots effort designed to highlight the broad spectrum of respect for U.S. Senate candidate Carly Fiorina’s achievement in the business sector and support for her campaign to defeat Barbara Boxer, 101 business leaders led by co-chairs Georgetown Business School Professor and former U.S. Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Trade Development Jim Moore Jr., former U.S. Secretary of Commerce and former Kellogg Company Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer Carlos Gutierrez, former Intel Chief Executive Officer Craig Barrett and former U.S. Secretary of Commerce Barbara Franklin today joined together to launch the Business Coalition 100.

“With an unemployment rate of 12.4 percent, the third highest in the nation and a considerable increase from when the federal stimulus package was signed into law last year, California is facing formidable odds. We need a leader who can make a difference in restoring real accountability to our federal government,” said Moore. “If anyone knows how to tackle the good, the bad, and the ugly of both big government and big business, it is Carly Fiorina. She will be an extraordinary voice and fighter for common-sense policies in Washington, and that’s why we are proud to launch this important effort today to support her in her campaign to defeat Barbara Boxer.”

The Business Coalition 100 brings together a diverse group of business leaders who recognize Fiorina’s success and proven leadership in the business world and who believe her skills and experience will be a valuable addition to the U.S. Senate. These leaders reflect the spectrum of business in California and across the nation; small-business owners make up 28 percent of the total signatories, while Fortune 500 CEOs comprise 11 percent. Together, they represent a broad range of industries, including 20 percent of signers from the service industry, 14 percent from manufacturing, 12 percent from agriculture, 9 percent from construction and 7 percent from the information technology sector.

“I am honored to have received such an outpouring of support from so many business leaders who, like me, believe we need to make a real change in Washington in order to put our nation back on the track to economic growth and success. Throughout my life, I have worked to bring people together to solve problems, and that’s the kind of pragmatic, real-world leadership we need working for California in the U.S. Senate,” said Fiorina. “Barbara Boxer, on the other hand, has spent the last 28 years in Washington making it harder for American companies to succeed and create jobs. She has championed more than a trillion dollars in tax hikes and continues to push for bigger government and more spending that threatens to bankrupt our future. She is a failed senator, and the people of California are ready to replace her this November.”
