SACRAMENTO, CA – Carly for California Deputy Campaign Manager for Communications Julie Soderlund today issued the following statement in response to the Reuters/Ipsos Poll released this morning showing Carly Fiorina polling close behind Barbara Boxer in the U.S. Senate race in California:
“Another day, another poll bringing more bad news for Barbara Boxer. With just over four months until Election Day, this poll confirms California’s junior senator is still unable to reach the 50 percent threshold of support expected of most incumbents. And despite the Obama administration’s multiple attempts to prop up Boxer’s political career, Carly Fiorina is today trailing by a mere four points. Add to that the news that 78 percent of California voters believe the state is on the wrong track and that the weak economy is our number one problem, and it’s easy to understand why Barbara Boxer’s political career is in jeopardy.
“In contrast, Carly comes from the real world, and she knows firsthand the complex challenges facing American companies today. She understands why jobs come and why jobs go, and she has made growing our economy and creating jobs her top priority since Day One of her campaign.
“The choice facing California voters this November could not be clearer: a 34-year career politician who has championed more than a trillion dollars in tax hikes, bigger government and job-killing legislation versus a political outsider with a proven track record of fiscal conservatism and job creation. This is a contrast we intend to continue highlighting in the months to come. As voters learn more about the disastrous path down which Barbara Boxer has taken our state in comparison to Carly’s plan to grow our economy, we expect Boxer’s support to fall fast and Carly’s support to continue growing.”
