SACRAMENTO, CA – Last week, Carly for California Campaign Manager Marty Wilson accepted an invitation from Senator Boxer’s campaign to discuss the topic of debates between the candidates for U.S. Senate. In response to Wilson’s e-mail challenging Senator Boxer to debate “early and often” and naming Beth Miller and Ken Khachigian as debate negotiators, Boxer’s campaign informed Wilson that Dan Newman would contact them to begin the negotiation process.
Since Newman had yet to contact Miller and Khachigian, Miller today sent a follow-up e-mail proposing times for the debate negotiators to meet and discuss debate logistics. After Miller sent this email, Newman did respond saying he would be in touch. The full text of Miller’s e-mail is below:
Dear Mr. Newman —
Per Ms. Kapolczynski’s email exchange with Marty Wilson last week we learned that you will be representing the Boxer campaign in the debate negotiation process. Since we’ve not heard from you we thought we would reach out to get this process moving forward ASAP as we have received many requests for debates from various news outlets and other organizations. We would like to accept as many debates as possible as we believe that will afford the voters numerous opportunities to hear directly from the candidates about where they stand on issues they are concerned with this election year.
Ken Khachigian and I are available to meet to discuss dates, times, locations, formats and topics on the following dates:
Friday, June 18th — 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Monday, June 21st — 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
We propose meeting in Sacramento at a mutually agreeable location. I’m sure we all have our share of conference rooms we can use.
We look forward to getting together soon.
Carly for California
