Carly Fiorina Issues Statement on San Joaquin Water Allocations

SACRAMENTO, CA – U.S. Senate candidate Carly Fiorina today issued the following statement in response to the Department of the Interior’s announcement yesterday that federal water allocations in the San Joaquin Valley will be increased to 45 percent of requested deliveries:

“There are only two things that can get water flowing into the Central Valley again: an act of Congress, and an act of God. Since Congress, under Barbara Boxer’s leadership as chairwoman of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, has failed to act, the only relief Central Valley residents have seen thus far has come as the result of an act of God in the form of increased rainfall.

“While I am encouraged that the water allocations have been increased this month, Boxer’s callous indifference to the devastating economic effects being caused by the region’s lack of water is stunning. Her continued refusal to help get the Delta pumps turned back on only further underscores how out of touch she is with the people she was elected to represent. Barbara Boxer has continually failed to stand up for the people of California’s Central Valley, and it’s time we replace her this November.”
