Also Gets Out the Vote With Campaign Volunteers in Burbank
SAN DIEGO, CA – On the final day of campaigning before Election Day, U.S. Senate candidate Carly Fiorina today held a press conference in San Diego to announce the endorsements of San Diego County Supervisor Dianne Jacob, Escondido City Mayor Lori Holt Pfeiler and San Diego City Council President Pro Tempore Kevin Faulconer.
“Carly is a true political outsider who understands firsthand the important role fiscal responsibility and accountability will play in making Washington work for the people of this state,” said Jacob. “She’s a true fiscal conservative, and she will be an outstanding advocate for our state in the U.S. Senate. I hope all San Diegans will join me in supporting her at the polls tomorrow.”
A native of San Diego, Jacob is in her fifth term on the County Board of Supervisors. During that time, she has championed fiscal accountability and transparency and has been honored by such organizations as the Industrial Environmental Association, the San Diego Merchants Association and the Building Owners and Managers Association. Prior to being elected to the Board, Jacob was a teacher and a member of the Jamul/Dulzura School Board.
“Now, more than ever before, our representatives at the local, state and federal levels must be focused on economic growth and job creation. Unfortunately, Californians haven’t seen that kind of leadership from our government.” said Pfeiler. “Carly Fiorina knows what it takes to create jobs and spur economic growth – and understands how government process inhibits economic growth. That’s the kind of leadership we need in Washington today, and that’s why I’m happy to endorse her today.”
Pfeiler was first elected to the Escondido City Council in 1992 and was re-elected in 1996. She has served as the city’s mayor since 1998, where her focus has been on economic development and improving residents’ quality of life.
“I am proud to endorse Carly Fiorina today because I know she will stand up for California as a member of the U.S. Senate and fight to protect the American Dream that made our state and nation great,” said Faulconer. “I want my children to have access to same opportunities that allowed Carly to work her way up from receptionist to CEO, but that requires leadership and courage to take our state and our nation down a different path. That starts by replacing Barbara Boxer this November with a respected, proven leader: Carly Fiorina. ”
Prior to his election to the San Diego City Council in 2006, Faulconer worked in public affairs and served as vice president of a leading local firm. Since beginning his service on the Council, Faulconer has championed both fiscal and environmental responsibility. He currently chairs the city’s audit committee and is vice chair of the budget and finance committee.
“I am grateful for the tremendous outpouring of support I have received over the last six months, and I’m especially thankful to these outstanding public servants for lending me their support today,” said Fiorina. “Barbara Boxer has been in Washington for 28 long years, but her tenure on the public’s dime has been disappointing. It’s time to fire her this November. I am asking Californians to vote for me tomorrow because I am the candidate who will hold her accountable for her dismal record and who can finally replace her.”
Also joining Fiorina at the press conference was San Diego City Coucilman Carl DeMaio, who previously endorsed Fiorina’s campaign for U.S. Senate.
Earlier in the day, Fiorina joined campaign volunteers at a phone bank in Burbank to make get-out-the-vote phone calls to Republican primary voters asking them for their support at the polls on Election Day.
