SACRAMENTO, CA – Carly for California Deputy Campaign Manager for Communications Julie Soderlund today issued the following statement in response to the Public Policy Polling survey released this morning showing Carly Fiorina with a 20-point lead over her nearest Republican primary opponent in the race for California’s U.S. Senate seat:
“This poll confirms what several polls before it have shown: Carly Fiorina has laid the groundwork necessary for an Election Day victory. These results further underscore the fact that Carly’s efforts to grow her base of support by traveling around the state talking with voters, hosting tele-town halls to hear directly from Californians about the issues most important to them and inspiring campaign volunteers to join her team and make get-out-the-vote phone calls to other voters has resulted in the groundswell of support she needs to win on June 8 and defeat Barbara Boxer in November.
“Meanwhile, support for Tom Campbell is falling fast as voters learn about his long record of supporting tax increases and government expansions. Tellingly, Carly has the strongest support among conservative voters because they realize she is the conservative candidate who can beat Barbara Boxer. It’s clear that voters believe that, under Carly’s leadership, we can together take Washington back, make it listen and make it work. This is a trend we expect we’ll continue to see through the June 8 primary election and into the November general election.”
This poll shows Fiorina leading Campbell 41 percent to 21 percent. A third opponent, Chuck DeVore, has 16 percent support; 18 percent of voters are undecided. The results of this poll mirror the results released yesterday in a poll conducted by SurveyUSA for KABC, which showed Carly leading Tom Campbell by 23 points and making a 34-point gain since the previous poll released May 11. The Public Policy Institute of California’s survey of the U.S. Senate race also has Fiorina leading in a three-way matchup.
