SACRAMENTO, CA – Carly for California Deputy Campaign Manager for Communications Julie Soderlund today issued the following statement regarding the Magellan Data and Mapping Strategies survey released this afternoon showing Carly Fiorina leading the three-way Republican matchup for California’s U.S. Senate seat by 23 points and the Public Policy Polling survey showing Fiorina in a statistical dead heat with Barbara Boxer:
“This third survey in as many days confirms the strong and growing support for Carly Fiorina’s campaign for U.S. Senate. As voters continue to learn that Carly is the conservative who will bring real-world experience cutting budgets and creating jobs to Washington, they are deciding to support her in the June 8 primary election. Carly has also defined herself as the candidate best prepared to defeat Barbara Boxer in the general election this fall and is in a statistical dead heat with her.
“Meanwhile, Tom Campbell continues struggling to defend his 20-year history of support for tax increases and government growth. As a result, his support has taken a precipitous decline. These are trends we fully expect to see continue through the duration of the primary election and into the general election this fall.”
Public Policy Polling today announced that, of the three Republican candidates, Fiorina performs best against Barbara Boxer. Fiorina is in a statistical dead heat with California’s junior senator, with Boxer earning 45 percent of the vote to Fiorina’s 42 percent, which is within the poll’s 3.2 percent margin of error. On the other hand, Fiorina’s opponent Chuck DeVore loses to Boxer by six points, and Tom Campbell loses to Boxer by a seven-point margin.
