SACRAMENTO, CA – U.S. Senate candidate Carly Fiorina today issued the following statement in response to the decision U.S. District Judge Oliver Wanger issued this morning concluding that federal agencies acted arbitrarily in imposing pumping restrictions limiting water flow to the Central Valley:
“I am encouraged by Judge Wanger’s statement today, which confirmed that the federal government had not taken into account the human consequences of shutting off water flow to communities across the San Joaquin Valley. He rightly said that some balance is required in making such decisions so that the impacts on families, farms and communities can be weighed alongside the effects on fish and the environment.
“On the other hand, Barbara Boxer has for too long denied the obvious: Both common sense and compassion require that we strike a balance between protecting our environment and protecting families and jobs. I am hopeful that, in recognition of this delicate and necessary balance, Judge Wanger will decide later this week to allow more water to flow to the San Joaquin Valley.”
