SACRAMENTO, CA – In reflection of the increasing number of Republicans who recognize U.S. Senate candidate Carly Fiorina as the right candidate to take on Barbara Boxer this November, California State Assemblyman Jim Nielsen today announced his endorsement of Fiorina’s campaign.
“This November marks California Republicans’ best opportunity in decades to defeat Barbara Boxer, and Carly Fiorina is the Republican best positioned to win and help restore integrity to the U.S. Senate,” said Nielsen. “Carly shares the core values of Republicans across our great state, and I am proud to endorse her candidacy today.”
Nielsen was raised in the San Joaquin Valley and operated his own cattle ranch. He was elected to the California State Senate in 1978, where he represented the North State for three terms. Nielsen served as Senate Republican Leader from 1983 to 1987. He was elected to the California State Assembly in 2008.
“Assemblyman Nielsen has served the people of California for many years, and I value his insight and support. I look forward to working with him in the coming weeks and months to bring fiscal responsibility and discipline back to Washington this fall,” Fiorina added.
Also today, California State Assemblymembers Jim Silva, Cameron Smyth, Ted Gaines, Dan Logue and Connie Conway announced their endorsement of Fiorina. In March, Assemblywoman Diane Harkey and former Assemblywoman Sharon Runner switched their endorsements from DeVore to back Fiorina’s campaign for U.S. Senate.
