SAN DIEGO, CA – In reflection of the growing chorus of voices calling for an end to Barbara Boxer’s tenure in Washington, as well as of the building support for Carly Fiorina, San Diego County Supervisor Bill Horn and San Diego City Councilman Carl DeMaio both announced endorsing Fiorina’s campaign for U.S. Senate today.
“Carly understands the anger and frustration of the people of this state, and she will carry to Washington our calls for smaller government and no new taxes,” said Supervisor Horn. “I’m proud to stand with Carly, who has proven over and over again that she is opposed to bloated government and will fight for taxpayers. That’s the reason I am proud to endorse her today.”
Prior to being elected to the San Diego County Board of Supervisors in 1995, Horn was a successful businessman and farmer. Since then, he has been an outspoken advocate on the Board for fiscal responsibility and has helped the county avert bankruptcy. Because of his contributions, San Diego County is now known as one of the nation’s best managed and most fiscally secure counties.
“Spending is out of control in Washington, DC, and taxpayers can trust Carly Fiorina to be their champion in fighting government waste,” Councilman DeMaio added.
DeMaio was elected to the San Diego City Council in 2008 after many years prodding city leaders to enact reforms addressing its financial and ethical problems. Previously, DeMaio was a successful businessman in addition to his work as a city government watchdog.
“Bill and Carl are both outspoken advocates for San Diego taxpayers. They share my commitment to fighting for fiscal responsibility and discipline, and I’m glad to have them in my corner,” Fiorina said. “After 28 years of Barbara Boxer’s failure to stand up for our state, the people of California are calling for a change. And that begins by firing Boxer this November and hiring new leadership to advocate for us in the U.S. Senate.”
