Carly Fiorina Issues Statement on Tax Freedom Day

SACRAMENTO, CA – U.S. Senate candidate Carly Fiorina today issued the following statement in commemoration of Tax Freedom Day, the day on which Americans will have earned enough money to pay off their tax burdens to local, state and federal governments:

“This year, Americans lost 99 days of work and 99 days of income to the government, thanks to Washington’s big-spending ways. Under Democratic leadership, the federal government is on track to rack up a sky-high $1.5 trillion budget deficit, the highest deficit in history, and the federal debt now exceeds $9 trillion.

“At the same time, millions of our fellow Americans are still out of work, and there are few signs that the big-government ‘stimulus’ programs Democrats like Barbara Boxer championed are yielding the jobs we were promised.

“Despite all this, our representatives in Washington continue to spend money faster than Americans can earn it. This is an insult to the hard-working people of this country. We must send representatives to Washington who have the courage and the political will to cut up their maxed out credit card and set our nation on a path to fiscal responsibility and discipline.”
