SACRAMENTO, CA – U.S. Senate candidate Carly Fiorina today announced the endorsement of former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
“California needs a representative in the U.S. Senate who is prepared to address our most pressing challenges including job creation and national security. Based on my experience, I know Carly is the best advocate to send to Washington for the people of our great state,” said Rice. “Carly is a principled and respected leader who has delivered results for those she has served in the midst of immense challenges. I am proud to endorse her today.”
Rice currently serves as the Thomas and Barbara Stephenson Senior Fellow on Public Policy at the Hoover Institution and as a Professor of Political Science at Stanford University. Prior to that, Rice served as U.S. Secretary of State under President George W. Bush from 2005 to 2009; during that time, Rice supported a policy of transformational diplomacy focusing efforts on the Middle East region. During his first term, Rice served as President Bush’s National Security Advisor from 2001 to 2005.
“I had the privilege to work with Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice when I served on the State Department’s Advisory Committee on Transformational Diplomacy, and I have great respect for her. I am even more honored to have her support behind my campaign for U.S. Senate,” said Fiorina. “Given the national security challenges our country faces, it’s critically important that our representatives in the U.S. Senate stand up to protect our fellow Americans, as well as our allies across the globe. Barbara Boxer has instead put her own political priorities ahead of the safety and security of our country, and it’s time to replace her this November.”
