Carly Fiorina Issues Statement on HIRE Passage
March 17, 2010

SACRAMENTO, CA – U.S. Senate candidate Carly Fiorina today issued the following statement after the Senate voted this morning to pass the House version of the Hiring Incentives to Restore Employment (HIRE) Act:

“Barbara Boxer voted today to add to our nation’s already sky-high federal deficit, pile on even more government spending and extend the disappointing and expensive stimulus package. Furthermore, the House version passed this morning comes at an even higher cost than the original Senate bill with even less assurance it will create the jobs it promises.

“In order to grow the economy, Washington must begin by implementing true tax cuts that free up small businesses to do what they do best: create jobs. And our representatives must also set about reauthorizing the Highway Trust Fund with additional spending controls – instead of touting mere stopgap measures that do nothing to address the underlying challenges.

“Voters expect their representatives to do what is best for the nation – not what is most politically expedient. Barbara Boxer is clearly out of step with the will of the people of California. Voters will certainly see right through her sudden Election Year-driven rhetoric about job creation and instead judge her by her last 18 years of pushing for policies that destroy jobs.”
