SACRAMENTO, CA – U.S. Senate candidate Carly Fiorina today issued the following statement regarding the President’s Blair House summit on health care:
“We have an important opportunity to implement the real reforms necessary to improve the quality and access to health care in our nation without hurting the economy. Reforms that give patients and their doctors more control, while also driving down costs in our nation’s health care system, are at the core of what is needed. However, the plans put forth by Congress and the President so far fall short of these two primary goals.
“While I’m hopeful the conversation at today’s summit will lead in that direction, I’m also concerned it will devolve into another scene in the continuing political theater directed by Democrats in Washington, including Barbara Boxer. If our representatives are serious about improving our health care system with truly bipartisan reforms, they must begin by focusing on the most necessary, already agreed-upon and accomplishable reforms: encouraging competition in the health insurance market, cracking down on frivolous lawsuits and ensuring no one is denied coverage because of a pre-existing condition.”
